Tips that actually help on the day
Shoes count, hats don't
Cast members measure with shoes on, hats off. Normal sneakers are fine — but they can ask kids to remove platform or oversized footwear.
Get the wristband early
When a child passes measurement, ask the cast member for a colored wristband. It's valid all day for rides at the same or lower height — no repeat checks.
Rider Switch is free
One adult waits with the child who can't ride; the other rides. Then they swap — no re-queuing. Ask the cast member at the entrance before joining the line.
Requirements can change
Disney occasionally adjusts requirements after refurbishments. Always confirm in My Disney Experience the week before — Big Thunder dropped from 40″ to 38″ in 2026.
